The SUP is a collaborative engagement between the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy’s networks of cities, the Resilience First business network, the Indian Institute for Human Settlements, the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) in collaboration with GIZ and led by Resilience Rising. Through this collaboration, the SUP initiative convenes IPCC authors alongside city officials, national governments and business communities, drawing upon local and global expertise to coordinate inputs into the final SUP reports and associated derivative products.

The SUP draws on latest climate change research, bringing together IPCC authors from across the globe.

The IPCC Working Group participating authors contributing to content for the SUP volumes will operating in an independent capacity but keep true to the science in the IPCC AR6 Report series. They will provide inputs on the latest regionally specific science, and suggestions on future urban research to fill gaps in understanding.
